Alex Smithies

Could have done better when Hull scored their first. Seemed a little slow to move ac ross his goal. The guy needs plenty of credit, though, for the way he stepped in to replace injured Etheridge and has done exceptionally well 6

Lee Peltier

Former Hull player who is one of the best defenders in Championship football. One-v-one he is immense and a solid, all-round player 7

Sean Morrison (capt)

Personally, I wish City would vary those long throws. They are way too predictable. A leader who marshalled his team well, although the zonal marking system isn’t helping the back four right now 6

Aden Flint

Big, strong, dominant. Had a spell in attack when Cardiff were trailing, while he looked strong and effective at the back 6

Joe Bennett

Polished left-back who defends with consistent success and loves to get forward 6

Leandro Bacuna

The midfield playmaker was Warnock’s personal man of the match. Pushed forward into a more attacking midfield position with Marlon Pack returning after injured. That role closer to Glatzel suits Bacuna and he was dangerous 8

Marlon Pack – Man of the Match

Back from injury and what a difference he made. His presence is massive through midfield and he allowed Bacuna the freedom to push forward 8

Joe Ralls

Box-to-box midfield player who is a big hit at Championships level. Will play a major role for the Bluebirds over this season 7

Gavin Whyte

A genuine talent. A little bit hit and miss at the moment, but he is gaining experience week-by-week and it’s clear he has massive ability 6

Robert Glatzel

Two goals in two appearances – and his strike at Hull was the first from open play. There is more to come from the German striker, but City must improve their service to him 7

Junior Hoilett

Always looking to make things happen for City going forward. Experienced, tricky winger 7
