Alex Smithies

Etheridge is fit and ready, but the excellent Smithies handled beautifully, stayed focused and alert. A clean sheet was his reward 8

Lee Peltier

The link between the reliable right-back and wide midfield man Whyte is developing fast. They are a unit within the team and are going to be crucial over the rest of this season 7

Sean Morrison (capt)

‘Boro have fast, tricky attacking players, but they ran into a solid wall formed by the Morrison/Flint partnership. I can’t wait to see how Warnock will find a place for Sol Bamba when he is fit. Right City’s twin centre-backs are doing the job required 7

Aden Flint

Unbeatable in the air and battled manfully against the pace of Assombalonga and Co. Again, this defensive unit within a team is a major factor for City 6

Joe Bennett

Back to his best, both defensively and when joining the attack with dashing runs. A player who has good vision and awareness 7

Leandro Bacuna

I felt for Bacuna when he was asked to play out of position at right-back earlier this season and struggled. Now, though, he is back in his natural central midfield role and is growing in confidence. Marlon Pack may be out injured, but Bacuna has stepped up big time 7

Joe Ralls

Keen to play even though he was injured and was an energetic, effective influence in midfield. Warnock confirmed that Ralls had volunteered to play through an injury 7

Callum Paterson

The enthusiastic Scot is struggling for his best form. Tomlin was among the subs, having recovered after suffering whiplash in a car accident, and the creative playmaker is a must for the starting line-up at Hull on Saturday 6

Gavin Whyte – Man of the Match

Warnock reckons the former Oxford wide man, aged 23, has a good chance of playing for England if Gavin Whyte keeps playing in front of him. The Bluebirds manager described Whyte as a ‘little naive’, but he is a young player with huge potential, particularly with Warnock guiding him 8

Josh Murphy

Taken off at half-time suffering from sickness, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. Despite those problems, Murphy sparkled during the first 45 minutes. If he had not been forced off and had maintained his first half form he would, for me, have been man of the match 8

Omar Bogle

Called in after Glatzel went down with the sic knees big which affected Murphy. Hit the bar with a header and worked hard throughout, but this wasn’t his day 6

Junior Hoilett

(for Murphy 45)

Took over from Murphy, who was feeling unwell at half-time and was forced to stay off. Hoilett had some good moments 6

Danny Ward

(for Bogle 66)
