Man of the Match – Neil Etheridge

Surely the leading contender for player of the season. Some of the saves by the Filipino stopper were breathtaking. He was magnificent – and helpless against quality finishing by Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane. Maybe the ‘keeper might have saved De Bruyne’s shot, but it was still a class effort 8

He tried, battled and gave everything. ‘Pelts’ was up against World class players in De Bruyne, Sane and Co. A valiant effort 6

Bruno Manga

Calm composure from the centre-back picked him out in a decent Bluebirds display. Defended solidly throughout 7

There is no question the skipper and his team-mates will battle to the end of this season. Morrison wasn’t at his best, but he gave everything 5

Joe Bennett

Mahrez gave the left-back a torrid time – and Bennett was cruelly exposed before Manchester City’s second goal. He will have better days 5

Aron Gunnarsson

The experience of Cardiff’s Icelandic battler is going to play a huge part over the rest of this season. He would love to leave Cardiff at the end of this season having helped to keep them up. ‘Gunnar’ has already agreed to sign for Al-Arabi in the Qatar Stars League next season 5

Joe Ralls

A performance full of character, spirit and guts. ‘Rallsy’ can’t compete with World class competitors like De Bruyne and Co, but he can play a major role in Cardiff’s battle for survival. It’s not over yet

Victor Camarasa

Has the quality to lead Cardiff’s battle for safety. There is a long way to go, but the Spanish midfield player has a creative spark which can hurt the likes of Burnley, Fulham, Brighton and Palace 6

Josh Murphy

Murphy has the ability to make his mark over the remaining Cardiff matches. Struggled to trouble Manchester City, but there are far more fallible teams to face over the next few weeks 5

Junior Hoilett

Now we need to see the best of the Canadian winger. There were flashes of inspiration against Manchester City, but conceded possession too often 5
