An eighth Premier League clean sheet for the goalkeeper who is a leading contender to be voted Cardiff’s player of the season. This time, though, the players in front of him defended so well there were few chances for West Ham. The closest they went to a goal was when Declan Rice hit a post 7

Lee Peltier

Showed his versatility by starting at right-back and switching to the left after Bennett went off. Effective in both positions. City, for me, look a lot more solid with Peltier at full-back and Manga operating in his natural position in the middle 8

The skipper has taken some stick from critics. This is the way to shut them up. Bamba is out for the season and the new partnership at the heart of defence; Morrison and Manga, is a hit. They work well together and for me the pairing can play a big part in the survival battle 7

Bruno Ecuele Manga

Composed, calm, effective. Manga looks far more at home in the centre – and the enforced switch could prove to massive for City in their quest for survival 7

Joe Bennett

Key player in an excellent back five. West Ham scarcely had a shot on target in 90 minutes, stumbling against a well organised, disciplined defence. Bennett looked decent defensively and worked to get forward before limped off after 62 minutes. Bacuna took over and went to right-back with Peltier moving left 7

Aron Gunnarsson

Gunnar at his best, as he was in this match, is an awesome sight. He played a major role in disrupting Hammers’ attacks and helped his defence with his work. A fearsome competitor 7

Harry Arter

Premier midfield players must hate playing against Gunnar and Arter. Both love the cut and thrust of a midfield battle – and are ready to get stuck in. Booked for the ninth time this season, but that just underlines his commitment 7

Josh Murphy

I love watching Murphy and Decordova-Reid play. They have genuine ability, love running at defenders. Either or both could be saviours for the Bluebirds. Murphy was immense and earned assists on both goals 8

Victor Camarasa

Man of the match. Adds an extra midfield spark and capped an excellent personal display with a goal. Forced off by injury with Ralls taking over. With three weeks before the next fixture City must make sure he is ready 8

Junior Hoilett

Back to his best. Has been a little off colour at times, but scored early and gave West Ham defenders a torrid time. Used his experience and ability to good effect over the 90 minutes 8

How on earth did he fail to score his first goal for Bluebirds? Caused Hammers problems with his pace, power and positioning. With even the tiniest bit of luck he would have found the net. Overall a top quality performance 7
