Under-19 Match Report – Cardiff City 17, Tiger Bay FC 0

Craig Bellamy’s young Bluebirds produced a thoroughly professional performance and won 17-0 in their Welsh Youth Cup second round clash with Tiger Bay FC.

Cardiff City led 6-0 by half-time and stepped up the pressure to underline they mean business in this trophy.

Bellamy’s boys play in the Professional Development League under-18 division, but compete at under-19 level in the youth cup.

The ultra-competitive Bellamy wants his squad to win this trophy – and end a Swansea run which has seen them lift the Welsh Youth Cup in eight successive seasons.

Cardiff have been drawn against Taffs Well away in the last 16, while Swansea come into the competition at this stage and face Aberystwyth Town at home.

Isaak Davies set up Cardiff’s first goal after two minutes following an excellent run down the byline before his ball into the box found Sam Parsons and he made no mistake in breaking the deadlock.

Davies doubled the lead after 11 minutes, beating a number of Tiger Bay defenders and then producing the required finish to make it 2-0 from close-range.

Henry Smith scored a double in the space of 10 minutes, his first on 16 minutes when he headed over goalkeeper as he rushed out and the next after 26 minutes to put the Bluebirds 4-0 ahead.

Kieron Evans added number five, firing into the bottom corner, and Keenan Patten added a sixth from a penalty before half-time.

There were plenty more goals to come with Rubin Colwill (46) and Adam Sharif (50) made it 8-0 before Evans added his second of the game.

Dan Griffiths was sent on near the hour mark, replacing Henry Smith, and he netted twice, after 66 and 67 minutes.

The ever-influential Davies completed his hat-trick, scoring his second after 70 minutes before scoring Cardiff’s 13th of the match with 73 minutes gone.

Griffiths, Davies, Sherif and Williams Warnock completed the scoring in the final 10 minutes to send Cardiff through to the last 16, leaving plucky Tiger Bay down and out.

Cardiff City: Jordan Duffey, Adam Sharif (capt), Joel Bagan, Ryan Reynolds, Sam Parsons (Williams Warnock 60), Keenan Patten (Trystan Jones 45), Isaac Davies, Sam Bowen, Henry Smith (Daniel Griffiths 60), Rubin Colwill, Kieron Evans. Subs not used: George Ratcliffe (gk), Conor Davies.

Rueben Mackay scored a hat-tricks for Merthyr Town in their 4-1 home win against Barry Town United with Cavan Williams their other scorer.

Merthyr Town FC: Lewis Webb, Matt O’Donoughe, Brad Milward, Cole Jarvis, Liam Martin, Rueben Mackay, Jack Fox, Josh Williams, Joe Hunt, Cavan Williams, Ellis Holland. Subs: Callum Foley, Cameron Jones, Lewis Griffiths, Jordan Jones, Liam Kendal.

Gwent League Ynysddu Welfare’s Welsh Youth Cup run came to an end against Llanelli Town.

The team was formed after being mistakenly entered into the FAW’s Youth Cup and won their tie against Briton Ferry even though the club did not have a youth team and quickly recruited players.

They were flooded with offers from players across the country and finally settled on 21 players from the local area for their first match.

Their cup clash with Briton Ferry ended 2-2 with Ynysddu winning the penalty shootout 3-2.
